Addison

MBChB, MRCGP (merit), FRACGP, DFFP, DCH

I started my medical training in Scotland, graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 1998.  From there I spent 5 years in hospital jobs, both across the UK and in Australia, before completing my GP training in Bath in 2003.  After passing the RCGP exam in England, I took up a partnership in my home town of Aberdeen, where I spent 7 happy years.  In pursuit of change, I arrived on the Mornington Peninsula in 2013 and have been working as a GP, caring for families in the local area ever since. I have an interest in skin cancer medicine and surgery, and offer skin checks, diagnosis and treatment. I have completed Certificates in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery and Advanced Skin Cancer Surgery. I love the variety of general practice, and hold the Diploma of Child Health, and the Diploma of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. I fit Mirena IUD’s and Implanon, and I'm an accredited Peninsula Health Shared Care GP.  New patients are always welcome. Appointments can be made online or by telephone.

General Medical Services

All areas of general practice interest me, and I love getting to know families and providing continuity of care across the generations.

Having a regular GP improves your healthcare experience, and has been shown to reduce hospital admissions.  Various screening assessments are recommended at different life stages, from cervical screening to blood pressure checks.  Your GP is the best person to coordinate your care and we are skilled at managing the whole patient.

Women's health is a particular area of interest for me, especially contraception and family planning.  I am accredited to look after pregnant women through the Peninsula Health shared care programme, meaning hospital outpatient appointments can be minimized, and improving continuity of care.  After delivery, I routinely perform 6 week postanatal and new baby checks, and childhood immunizations. I undertook further training with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in the UK and am trained to fit Implanon, Mirena and copper IUD.  Long acting reversible contraception is recommended as a first line choice for young fertile women.  Make an appointment with me today to discuss your individual needs.
